Here is a Scenario
Longtime supporters Pamela and Robert Owens want to make sure Ochsner Lafayette General Foundation continues to flourish long after they're gone. They also want to memorialize Robert’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Owens. So they make a $25,000 donation to Ochsner Lafayette General Foundation, which we invest. Each year, a portion of the income from the invested money will be used to support our mission in honor of the Owens. The rest of the income is reinvested in the fund; that's what allows it to support us indefinitely. Pamela and Robert Owens qualify for a federal income tax charitable deduction on their taxes.
