The MRI at Ochsner Lafayette General Medical Center features a patient handheld volume control with an AM/FM stereo, CD player, and Ipod/Iphone interface. This distracts even the most apprehensive patients by allowing them to be in control of their own environment. Additionally, the Audio Gain feature automatically raises and lowers the volume level for the patient based on the sound pressure level of the MRI.
Other facilities feature headphones with streaming online music. The patient can pick a favorite station/type of music to help them be more comfortable while the scan is performed.
Ochsner St. Martin Hospital provides many of the same advanced technologies to the residents of St. Martin Parish. Ochsner University Hospital & Clinics also provides a full spectrum of radiology and imaging services, including but not limited to: bone density, interventional radiology, mammography, CT, 3T MRI, vascular lab/ultrasound, echo, nuclear medicine and diagnostic radiology.
