About
Ochsner Acadia General Hospital continues to change the medical landscape in Acadia Parish, positively impacting the communities it serves while bringing quality care close to home.
Excitement built in the year 2018 and culminated with the grand opening of Ochsner Acadia General Hospital's new emergency department. The three-phase expansion and renovation project was completed under budget and on time. This comes on the heels of other renovations including the replacement of the medical gas compressor, cleaning and painting the exterior of the building to improve its appearance and energy efficiency, window replacements and more. Ochsner Acadia General Hospital also invested $2 million in new radiology equipment, including a new MRI. And through the support of generous donors, Ochsner Acadia General Hospital replaced all IV Pumps with CareFusion Alaris “smart pumps,” creating a better, quieter experience for patients and caregivers.
Ochsner Acadia General Hospital continues to excel by providing Acadia Parish with services tailored to benefit the community through a number of partnerships and expanded service lines. Cancer Center of Acadiana clinics in Mamou and Ville Platte aligned with Ochsner Acadia General Hospital to offer infusion services and resources to patients close to home. Additionally, Ochsner Acadia General Hospital enhanced its cardiology services through a partnership with Cardiovascular Institute of the South to provide access to more specialists. Utilizing a telecardiology program through this partnership, Ochsner Acadia General Hospital gives patients access to a cardiologist 24/7. With a continued focus on providing convenient access to care, Ochsner Acadia General Hospital also offers telepsychology, telestroke and a telehospitalist to meet the growing needs of our patient population.
