Radiation Onocology at Ochsner Cancer Center of Acadiana utilizes CyberKnife technology. CyberKnife’s robotic, radiosurgery system is the only one of its kind. This approach to fighting cancer treats tumors – and certain other lesions and vascular malformations – anywhere in the body. It can do this without damaging normal tissue as well.

CyberKnife is an FDA-approved total body radiosurgery device made by Accuray®, Inc., developed to treat various tumors throughout the body with extreme precision by utilizing robotic technology and real-time imaging. Not every person is a candidate for CyberKnife treatment.

The Cyberknife Center – Louisiana offers a complimentary medical opinion in a weekly case conference to determine if you or someone you love is a candidate for treatment.

A multidisciplinary team of Cyberknife trained professionals including a radiation oncologist and a surgeon review each case because each case is so unique. For your case to be reviewed, send the following information to the CyberKnife Center:

  • Patient Demographics (name, address, phone, age, sex)
  • Copy of Insurance Card
  • Diagnosis
  • History & Physical & Last Office Visit Note
  • Operative report(s)
  • Pathology report
  • Medication List
  • Lab report
  • Past radiation dose records (if applicable)
  • Imaging reports
