Radiation Onocology at Ochsner Cancer Center of Acadiana utilizes CyberKnife technology. CyberKnife’s robotic, radiosurgery system is the only one of its kind. This approach to fighting cancer treats tumors – and certain other lesions and vascular malformations – anywhere in the body. It can do this without damaging normal tissue as well.
CyberKnife is an FDA-approved total body radiosurgery device made by Accuray®, Inc., developed to treat various tumors throughout the body with extreme precision by utilizing robotic technology and real-time imaging. Patients have been treated with this system worldwide. CyberKnife Center of Louisiana is the only one in southwest Louisiana.

- Treatment of lesions that are unable to be removed surgically
- Lesions that have previously undergone the maximum allowed dose of radiation can be treated
- Improve comfort due to the elimination of the invasive head-frame

Testimonial from Lisa Theriot

Cancer Patient
For nearly 10 years, I traveled out of state for cancer treatments; it’s difficult to leave your family. But then, I discovered CyberKnife, an amazing radiosurgery that can get into hard-to-reach areas where traditional methods cannot –– and without surgery. I went from pain every day to being pain free. Having this kind of treatment and being able to be home with my family is wonderful.
