In response to our current COVID-19 hospitalizations and case counts, we have implemented the following restricted visitor policy effective September 26, 2022.

Masks are optional in most areas. Please note that, for your safety and for the safety of our patients, masking is strictly enforced in our hematology/oncology units, infusion areas, NICUs and for certain patient ICUs for all employees, patients and guests. Those unwilling to comply will be asked to leave – no exceptions. Ochsner Lafayette General will make masks available at all entrances. Masks must be worn properly, ensuring that the nose and mouth are covered continuously.

Children under two years of age are excluded from masking requirements. Children visitors must be accompanied with an adult and always remain in the patient’s room. Visitors are to maintain social distancing at all times, including in waiting rooms, cafeterias and other shared areas.

Ochsner will continue routine visitation for COVID-19 negative patients, including inpatients, outpatients, and procedural areas. Visitors will be asked to leave if they exhibit symptoms of respiratory infection, have tested positive for COVID -19 in the last ten days, have a pending COVID-19 test for symptoms, are unable or refuse to wear a mask OR do not comply with current policy.

This policy affects all employees and visitors regardless of vaccination status in accordance with the requirements set by the Louisiana Department of Health.
