Paid Time Off and Holidays
Immediately upon hire, employees begin earning accrued hours for flex-time and extended illness. Employees may use accrued hours after 90 days of employment. Ochsner Lafayette General recognizes seven holidays each year and offer an additional floating holiday.
Benefits become effective on the first of the month following 30 days of employment.
Health and Dental Insurance
The health system contributes toward employee and dependent premiums. Employees must enroll for Core benefits within 30 days of date of hire.
Vision Insurance
Ochsner Lafayette General offers a full-service plan with allowances for exams, frames and contact lens. Employees cover the premium cost.
Life Insurance
The health system covers the premium for full-time employees to receive two times (part-time employees one time) their annual salary to a maximum of $50,000. Employees may purchase additional term life insurance coverage from 1 to 5 times annual salary to a maximum of $500,000.
Long-Term Disability
Ochsner Lafayette General pays premiums for individual employee coverage of up to 50% of pay after six months of disability.
401(k) Retirement Plan
Ochsner Lafayette General offers basic and matching contributions on employer plans.
1) Employer Only Contributed 401k
2) Employee Contributed 401k with Employer Matching
Matching = first 3% of gross pay is matched at the rate of $.67 on the dollar every payroll.
Discounts
The health system offers discounts through various vendors in the local community along with nationwide vendors through our Group Purchasing Office. Discounts are available for events, clinical apparel and cell phone services to name a few.
Educational Opportunities
Ochsner Lafayette General provides free in-house continuing education through the fully-staffed Clinical Education Department.
Credit Union
The health system offers checking and savings account by payroll deduction. This includes competitive interest rates on loans, interest bearing accounts, money market accounts and more.

Ochsner Lafayette General offers free, confidential, short-term counseling and referral to community resources for full-time and part-time employees experiencing personal challenges. The use of EAP services is voluntary and available 24 hours per day.

Available to full-time and part-time employees through our Employee Assistance Program.
Smoking Cessation
Long-time smokers will be incentivized to quit with these classes covered under the health plan. Non-smokers are rewarded with an increased premium discount.
