RN Residency Program Earns Accreditation from American Nurses Credentialing Center

Lafayette General Health is pleased to announce its RN Residency Program achieved accreditation from the American Nurses Credentialing Center – ANCC.

ANCC Practice Transition Accreditation validates hospital residency or fellowship programs that transition registered nurses – RNs—and advanced practice registered nurses –APRNs—into new practice settings that meet rigorous, evidence-based standards for quality and excellence. Nurses in accredited transition programs, like the RN Residency program at Lafayette General Health experience curricula that promote the acquisition of knowledge, skills and professional behaviors necessary to deliver safe, high-quality care.

“This accreditation gives nurse residents assurance that Lafayette General Health offers an elevated transition program with a clear course of instruction and reliable evaluation methods. With an ANCC Accreditation, our transitioning nurses gain the skills and confidence needed to perform effectively within a new practice setting,” said Assistant Chief Nursing Officer, Renee Delahoussaye.

The residency program is for 12 months and open to recent graduates or nurses with less than one year experience in an acute-care setting, hired by Lafayette General Health with licensing from an accredited school. The next available cohort begins in March 2020.
