Plastic and Reconstructive surgeons Joseph P. Lupo, M.D., and Bennett Boustany Fontenot, M.D., opened a new office, located at 900 E. St. Mary Street in Suite 104, on Monday, Dec. 7. That location underwent a full renovation to create a modern office and clinical space for patients.
Drs. Lupo and Fontenot teamed up in a new practice in August, when both physicians joined Lafayette General’s LGMD Physician Group. They had been working out of temporary location while the renovation was underway.
Dr. Lupo earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from University of Miami School of Medicine. Dr. Lupo completed a General Surgery residency at Dartmouth Medical School and a Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Fellowship at Tulane Medical Center in New Orleans. He is certified by the American Board of Surgery.
Dr. Fontenot earned his Doctor of Medicine at the LSU School of Medicine in New Orleans, after obtaining his bachelor’s degree in biochemistry from LSU in Baton Rouge. He completed a General Surgery residency at the Medical University of South Carolina, and a Plastic and Reconstructive fellowship at the University of Texas in Houston. While there, he rotated at the MD Anderson Cancer Center, where he was trained in the DIEP flap microsurgical breast reconstruction. He is certified by the American Board of General Surgery and is a member of the American Medical Association.
Both surgeons specialize in aesthetic surgery of the face, body and breast, and full body reconstruction, with a special emphasis on breast reconstruction including the DIEP flap. Both have been extensively trained in advanced microsurgical techniques, and they look forward to providing these services to the community of Acadiana.
