New Medical Residents Welcomed

By Lafayette General Health
July 1, 2016

Friday morning at ULL’s Cecil J. Picard Center on Devalcourt Street, Acadiana welcomed new LSU residents to the Lafayette General Health system. Katie Hebert, Chief Operating Officer of University Hospital & Clinics, individually presented new Family Medicine and Internal Medicine residents with their official white lab coats during the welcoming ceremony.

Residents are medical school graduates that train for additional years before they practice medicine independently. Most residents will train at UHC, others at Lafayette General Medical Center, and some will train at both hospitals. UHC and LGMC are the only two Major Teaching Hospitals in Acadiana.

Following the 7:15 a.m. ceremony and a brief breakfast and meet & greet session, the residents’ first day on the job began at 8:15 a.m. Some residents were paged prior to the end of the ceremony and headed off to their respective clinics.
