By Lafayette General Health
March 1, 2016

Lafayette General Health (LGH) is pleased to announce the appointment of Donald D. Trexler as Interim Administrator at Acadia General Hospital (AGH), effective today, March 1. Trexler brings years of experience in the medical industry to Crowley. LGH would like to thank Charmaine Vidrine, CFO, and Caroline Marceaux, CNO, for their leadership over the past week.

Trexler’s experience working with physicians was key to his appointment. In his most recent position as CEO of Cypress Pointe Surgical Hospital (CPSH) in Hammond, LA, he grew the medical staff from 25 physicians to a 154-member active staff. He exceeded revenue and budgeted surgeries in the first year, and experienced continued growth the following year. The hospital maintained patient satisfaction results above 97% nationally in every category, according to national survey firm Press Ganey, Inc., from 2012 to 2014.

“I look forward to being part of the Acadia Parish community,” said Trexler. “I am dedicated to growing Acadia General and exceeding its potential. In addition to working with our medical community, my main focus will be to bring financial stability to AGH.”

Trexler brings a wealth of administrative, consulting and management experience from his various roles in healthcare. Previous experience includes: Healthcare Strategy Consultant, TAP Group New Orleans; CEO, Southern California Orthopedic Institute; CEO, Bienville Orthopedic Specialists; and VP Physician Services and Network Development, Trover Clinic Foundation.

“We are thrilled to have Donald join Acadia General as Interim Administrator,” said Lafayette General Health President David L. Callecod, FACHE. “His proven track record in the medical industry makes him the fitting choice for this role. Not only has he proven success in patient satisfaction and facility growth, he has proven to be an outstanding community leader.”

Trexler has been involved in professional organizations, and in community organizations as well, including: Board member, Saint Scholastica Academy (SSA); Chairperson, Academic Excellence Committee (SSA); Board Member, United Way, St. Tammany Parish; and Member, Tangipahoa Parish Chamber of Commerce.

After earning his Bachelor of Science in health information management, Trexler earned master’s degrees in both Healthcare Administration and Business Administration at University of Pittsburgh.
