Lafayette General Health (LGH) announced on Monday that the health system will begin selling a “Lafayette Strong” t-shirt for $20. 100 percent of the proceeds will be donated to the non-profit Lafayette Central Park to aid in the construction of playgrounds in the park at the Horse Farm. The family of Jillian Johnson had requested that contributions be made to Lafayette Central Park.
The t-shirts will be available to the public this Friday at Louisiana Hot Stuff (4409 Ambassador Caffery Pkwy # 200 in Lafayette), however pre-orders will be accepted online at LouisianaHotStuff.com or by calling (337) 981-3132. T-shirts will NOT be distributed at any of LGH’s hospitals.
“We are all still deeply saddened by this senseless tragedy,” stated LGH President David L. Callecod, FACHE. “As a community-owned non-profit health system, we feel a tremendous sense of obligation to assist in Acadiana’s recovery. There is no truer innocence than children at a playground and Lafayette Central Park is going to be a shining example of our community’s resilience.”
LGH also announced its intention to donate a portion of the money it raises during the health system’s 2015 United Way campaign in October to LSU – Eunice (LSUE). The money going to LSUE will provide a Radiologic Technology scholarship in the name of Mayci Breaux.
