Lafayette General Health’s Community Relations Department returned today from Louisiana Hospital Association’s 2014 Pelican Awards banquet in Baton Rouge with three awards—two of them top honors.

Pelican Awards honor public relations and marketing efforts among Louisiana Hospital Association members statewide. The department won a Pelican Award for “Web Initiative” by showcasing the system’s website and each of the hospitals and professional centers within the system; another Pelican Award for “Specialty Items” recognizing the 2014 Employee Calendar and a Certificate of Merit for a “Single TV Spot” featuring patient Loren Laing from the “I Choose” campaign, telling the story of his deep brain stimulation surgery.

The Pelican Awards are considered the competition’s gold standard.

In addition to creativity, judging is based on rigid criteria of planning, research, strategy, implementation, results and evaluation.
