LAFAYETTE – Lafayette General Health (LGH) is pleased to announce the promotion of Dr. Fallon Strother McManus to the position of Chief Medical Information Officer (CMIO), effective August 5, 2019.

Dr. McManus began her career with LGH in 2014 as a Lafayette General Medical Doctor (LGMD), where she practiced family medicine in Youngsville.

A South Louisiana native, Dr. McManus graduated from Erath High School.  She earned a bachelor’s degree in biological sciences from Louisiana State University and went on to LSU Medical Center in Shreveport where she earned a Doctor of Medicine. Dr. McManus did her residency at LSU Health Sciences Center in New Orleans and later began her career in medicine at Lake Charles Memorial Hospital. She later practiced family medicine in Shreveport before returning home to Acadiana.

During her time at LGH, Dr. McManus has served on the Physician Advisory Committee and she was named the “Cerner Physician Champion” last year. Also in 2018, Dr. McManus received the TORCH Carrier Service Award and to wrap up a banner year, she met 100 percent of primary care quality metrics.

“Since Dr. McManus joined LGMD, she has been involved in a variety of initiatives with LGH bringing enlightenment to the ambulatory, primary care world. Her emphasis in these projects has revolved a great deal around the use of the electronic medical records, and additional technology, to run a highly efficient and high quality primary care office. She brings her expertise to the IS department and the physician advisory committee to help make the best decisions for physician workflows. In addition, she extends her knowledge and support to independent physician offices improving the success of those offices using new technology,” said LGH Chief Medical Officer Dr. Amanda Logue, the former CMIO. Dr. Logue was named the health system’s CMO in May of this year.

“I am looking forward to getting to better know the medical staff as I assist them, alongside the Information Systems team, in utilizing our electronic medical records system more effectively. I am excited for the opportunity to learn about – and bring forward – new technologies that we can incorporate into our healthcare delivery that will continue to improve care and outcomes for our patients,” said Dr. McManus.

Dr. Pernell Simon, the Medical Director of Lafayette General Urgent Care, will move to Dr. McManus’ practice in Youngsville and begin seeing patients at that clinic, effective August 5. Dr. Simon is a familiar face in Youngsville as he has practiced family medicine at Lafayette General Urgent Care in Sugar Mill Pond since 2012. Patients were notified of the change recently.
