Industry publication Computerworld announced Monday that Lafayette General Health (LGH) was named to its 2015 list of “Best Places to Work in Information Technology” (IT). Computerworld, published by International Data Corporation (IDG), says LGH is one of 100 top organizations that challenge their IT staffs while providing great benefits and compensation. The top 100 organizations are being featured in Computerworld coverage along with results from the 22nd annual Best Places to Work in IT survey.

Lafayette General Health ranked No. 2 nationally amongst all mid-size organizations, and ranked No. 1 overall in the entire South Atlantic Region. LGH was also the No. 1 ranked healthcare organization. Through industry-leading technology and strategies, LGH has also been named among Healthcare’s “Most Wired” Hospitals for four years and HIMSS Stage 6 for three years.

“We are very excited to be named one of the Best Places to Work in IT,” says Mike Dozier, LGH VP & Chief Information Officer. “Information Technology is a competitive area to retain and recruit top IT talent and I’m proud of the IT staff that contribute so much of their time and energy to making LGH a better place for our employees and patients. Employee engagement and culture are very important to LGH and everyone works hard to create an environment that employees are proud to be a part of,” he says.

LGH’s IT Department employs 82 staff. Of the current job openings across LGH’s system, only 1.7% are IT jobs.

“The 100 organizations on Computerworld’s 2015 Best Places to Work in IT list realize that attracting and retaining a highly-skilled technology workforce leads to competitive advantage,” says Scot Finnie, editor in chief of Computerworld. “In a tight market for tech talent, these outstanding employers attract the best and brightest IT pros with generous salaries and top-drawer benefits, then deepen their teams’ engagement with challenging, business-critical projects built around cutting-edge technologies. As a result, these winning organizations are best positioned to take advantage of the digital transformation sweeping through every industry.”
