The Lafayette General Foundation board of directors has appointed Nancy Broadhurst as the Foundation’s new executive director. She will be responsible for the strategic planning, creation and implementation of all healthcare philanthropy and development as well as the health system’s scholarship funds and employee giving program. The dollars raised by the Foundation are invested back into Lafayette General Health, the region’s largest not-for-profit, community-owned health system. Broadhurst replaces Cian Robinson, who has led the Foundation since 2015. Robinson has accepted a position with Lafayette General Health as Executive Director of Innovation, Research and Real Estate Investments.

“It is a tremendous privilege to lead an organization that supports the vital role Lafayette General Health fulfills as a leader in healthcare in the region,” said Broadhurst. “I look forward to working together with the Foundation board and staff, in collaboration with the Health System board of directors, and the executive team and medical staff, to continue building on the wonderful successes of the Foundation.”

Broadhurst holds a bachelor’s degree in marketing from then University of Southwestern Louisiana and has a Certified Nursing Assistant certification. She has over 30 years of professional experience in both the for-profit and non-profit sectors and is an accomplished executive with an impressive record of fundraising. For the past two years, Broadhurst held the positions of director of development and development officer for Lafayette General Foundation.

“We could not be more pleased to have someone of Nancy’s caliber, experience and commitment to serve in this role. This is a very pivotal time for the Foundation as we continue to move the organization forward and begin planning for the future growth and development of the Foundation,” said Boyd Anderson, Chairman of the Board.

In his new role, Robinson will focus on the health system’s commitment to improving health in the communities it serves by driving innovation to drive outcomes. The Innovation Fund was capitalized through investments from Lafayette General Health and the Louisiana Seed Capital Program under the Louisiana Economic Development Corporation. The Real Estate Fund is an investment program targeting medical, commercial and multi-family residential existing and build-to-suit developmental properties and redevelopment projects. The focus will be on properties that complement the facilities of LGH, its affiliates and seeks to further the goals and objectives of the health system. The Research Fund invests in promising, state-of-the-art technology and programs that might lead to the development of a cure for diseases and terminal illnesses.

“The healthcare landscape is changing drastically across Louisiana and the country, and it has been an honor to lead the Lafayette General Foundation for the last three years during a time of exponential growth, while working alongside amazing partners, donors and employees,” said Robinson. “In my new role, I look forward to helping Lafayette General Health focus on the near- and far-term investments the health system needs to make in innovation, research and real estate, enabling us to deliver high-quality, timely care to all of Acadiana.”

Robinson has a bachelor’s degree in mathematics, a master’s degree in public policy and administration and is pursuing his doctorate from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. Prior to joining LGF, he was a director of two computer science based research centers within UL’s research department. Robinson is a decades-long entrepreneur in the information technology and management consulting fields and has received several awards for his entrepreneurial and community work.

“Both Nancy and Cian have unique talents that have served our health system well. I am excited and optimistic about the growth we’ll experience under their leadership, and I wish them both much success as they work to fulfill our mission of restoring, maintaining and improving health,” said Lafayette General Health President David L. Callecod, FACHE.

Founded in 2014, Lafayette General Foundation is led by a volunteer Board of Directors, whose mission is to raise awareness about the delivery of excellence in care and outcomes that Lafayette General Health provides and to secure philanthropic support for immediate and emerging needs of the health system.
