By Lafayette General Health
March 29, 2016

Lafayette General Foundation held a special art exhibition and auction, called “In Skilled Hands,” featuring works of physicians and employees of Lafayette General Health. The event, held March 24 at the Acadiana Center for the Arts, raised over $23,000 with more than one hundred people in attendance.

The art auction and exhibit is held in celebration of National Doctors’ Day, observed March 30. Hors d’oeuvres were served by iMonelli Restaurant and an open bar was provided. Funds generated by the auction go towards the Foundation, Lafayette General Health’s fundraising and philanthropic branch. Monies raised during the event will help underwrite Foundation activities such as the funding of equipment in Lafayette General Medical Center’s neonatal ICU, telemedicine in public schools, cancer screening for women and much more.

“I want to thank everyone who donated items for the auction, as well as those in attendance who were so generous in their support of our health system,” says Cian Robinson, Executive Director of the Foundation. “These funds help our community-owned system improve health care for the entire region.”

Physicians, employees and other friends of the health system produced and donated more than 50 items for this auction. Pieces included paintings, woodcarvings, jewelry and other items, such as vacation getaways, and much more.
