LGMC was honored with The Joint Commission’s Disease-Specific Care Certification for Joint Replacement for Hip and Knee. This certification demonstrates LGMC’s compliance with The Joint Commission’s national standards for health care quality and safety in disease-specific care. The Joint Commission is the leading accreditor of health care organizations in America.

LGMC was named among America’s Best Hospitals for Orthopedics by WomenCertified with a Women’s Choice Award. This recognition is give to hospitals with comprehensive orthopedic programs that meet certain customer survey scores and wellness criteria, including sources such as HCAHPS (Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems) and Medicare.

Lafayette General Health was honored by The Times of Acadiana “Best of” readership survey. With over 500,000 votes cast in various categories, first-place finishes were: Best Hospital (LGMC); Best Emergency Room (LGMC); Best Cancer Care (LGH); Best Place to Work (LGH); and Best Facebook Page (LGH). LGMC was also runner-up for “Best Place to Have a Baby” and LGH’s Family Health Plaza placed 3rd for “Best Walk-in Clinic/Urgent Care.” This poll marked the ninth time since 2005 that LGMC was voted Best Hospital, and the ninth-consecutive year for landing Best Emergency Room.

LGMC was recognized as a BrainPath Center for being among the first 50 hospitals in the country to offer a new surgical approach to reach deep brain abnormalities. This designation, from NICO Corporation, was granted after training physicians and staff in the new 6 Pillar Approach to brain surgery. Neurosurgeon Alan Appley, M.D., first used the technology at LGMC, making it the first and only hospital in Louisiana to use the BrainPath approach to neurosurgery.
