The Stroke Center at LGMC received a Bronze Award under the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association’s “Get With The Guidelines®” program. The award recognizes hospitals that demonstrate a high level of compliance with certain criteria outlined within the program.
LGMC earned First Place in the annual Times of Acadiana “Best of” for Best Hospital, Best Emergency Room and Best Cancer Center. LGMC garnered Second Place in Best Place to Have a Baby and Third Place in Best Walk-in/Urgent Care.
LGMC was chosen as a broadcast location for live surgical procedures for the New Cardiovascular Horizons Conference – the largest peripheral vascular conference in the U.S. The conference featured 24 live cases transmitted from eight different sites around the world.
HIMSS Analytics announced Lafayette General Medical Center achieved Stage 6 on the Electronic Medical Records Adoption ModelSM (EMRAM). Tracking their progress in completing eight stages (0-7), hospitals can review the implementation and utilization of information technology applications with the intent of reaching Stage 7, which represents an advanced electronic patient record environment. Stage 6 hospitals have achieved a significant advancement in IT capabilities they are at an advantage to better address many of the current industry transformations, such as meaningful-use criteria in the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA), claims attachments for the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, pay for performance and government quality reporting programs. LGMC is the first health care facility in Lafayette to achieve HIMSS Stage 6 and just the fourth hospital in Louisiana. The other hospitals in Louisiana that have reached stage 6 are West Jefferson (Marrero), St. Elizabeth (Gonzales) and Our Lady of the Lake (Baton Rouge). No hospital in Louisiana has attained Stage 7.
