Joseph Mitchell Named New CEO at Acadia General Hospital

Lafayette General Health (LGH) is pleased to announce the appointment of Joseph Mitchell as Chief Executive Officer of Acadia General Hospital (AGH), effective June 26, 2017. Interim CEO Glenn Dailey will return to his role as Associate Administrator.

Mitchell has 25 years of successful experience in executive healthcare management, senior operations and clinical administration.

“I’m honored to be chosen to lead AGH,” said Mitchell. “The hospital is on the right path and the community support from Acadia Parish is evident. I look forward to working with the AGH team and medical staff.”

In his most recent position, he served as President of Trinity Hospital Twin City in Dennison, Ohio. During his tenure, the hospital received Excellence in Outcomes and Patient Satisfaction awards from National Organization of State Offices of Rural Health, Excellence in Patient Care award from Studer Group and Top 20 Critical Access Hospital in Quality award from National Rural Health Association. He also adopted leadership roles within local community organizations and improved community engagement.

Prior to his time with Trinity Hospital, Mitchell had stints as Chief Executive Officer at River Valley Medical Center in Dardanelle, Arkansas, Eureka Springs Hospital in Eureka Springs, Arkansas and Holdenville General Hospital in Holdenville, Oklahoma.

“Joe has served in hospital senior leadership, management positions in acute and post- acute settings and at the front lines of health care delivery,” said David Callecod, LGH President. “We look forward to him bringing these diverse skills to Acadia General Hospital.”

Mitchell holds a Masters in Health Services Administration from Arkansas-Little Rock and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Central Arkansas. He is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives and has served as an Examiner for the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award.

Joe and his family, wife Elizabeth and daughter Payton, have strong ties to Acadiana, as Elizabeth is originally from Lafayette.
