When Lafayette General Health announced its agreement to manage Acadia General Hospital, a pledge was made to improve and expand the quality of services available in Acadia Parish. One of the first steps towards that goal is the opening of a new General Surgery office under Max Trahan, M.D., who specializes in minimally invasive approaches to surgery. Dr. Trahan makes a return to the community after being named Crowley’s 1997 Outstanding Young Citizen of the Year.
Dr. Trahan has expertise in voice preservation monitoring during thyroid and parathyroid surgery (recurrent laryngeal nerve monitoring). He also has experience with general abdominal robotic assisted surgery and laparoscopic surgery on hernias, bowels and solid organs.
After earning his Bachelor of Science degree in Microbiology at LSU, Dr. Trahan earned a Master of Public Health degree at St. George’s University. He also obtained his Doctor of Medicine, cum laude, from St. George’s. Before coming to Acadia General and Lafayette General Health, Dr. Trahan was a House Officer at Tulane University Medical Center in New Orleans, where he completed his surgical residency.
Dr. Trahan is certified by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention for Chemical Terrorism Preparedness, has served as an instructor in advanced trauma and cardiac life support, and was a member of the Iota Epsilon Alpha Medical Honor Society.
His office is located at 719 N. Eastern Ave. in Crowley. For more information, call (337) 783-1629, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mon. – Thurs., or from 8 a.m. to noon on Friday.
