Lafayette General Health (LGH) is pleased to announce Cancer Center of Acadiana (CCA) has partnered with Iberia Medical Center (IMC) to manage the oncology program at Iberia Medical Center’s Main Campus.

Leading the team will be Medical Oncologist/Hematologist Paulette Blanchet, M.D. She was there when CCA first opened its doors in Lafayette back in 2010 and is joining Cancer Center of Acadiana at Iberia Medical Center with Nurse Practitioner (and New Iberia native) Sydney Jo LeBlanc.

After renovations are complete to office space on IMC’s Main Campus, CCA will move from 814 Jefferson Terrace to 2309 E Main Street, Suite 301. “Our New Iberia clinic has always sent patients needing infusions to the IMC campus,” said Craig Ortego, VP of Cancer Services for Lafayette General. “Moving onto campus will allow us to work more closely with IMC staff. This is better for the patient.”

Dr. Blanchet earned her Doctor of Medicine at Indiana University School of Medicine. She underwent post-graduate training in Louisiana, completing her internship, residency and fellowship at LSU Medical Center in Shreveport. “I’m looking forward to helping the people of Iberia Parish,” said Blanchet. “It is my honor to be their physician.” Licensed to practice in six different states, Dr. Blanchet is also board certified with the American Board of Internal Medicine, in both Medical Oncology and Internal Medicine.

“My patients are my old teachers, my friend’s parents, my mom’s church friends”, said LeBlanc, a Board Certified Family Nurse Practitioner and Advanced Oncology Certified Nurse Practitioner. She has worked in oncology for 8 years. “These are my people. I’m privileged to serve and care for them.”

“Keeping patients close to home means they can spend less time traveling and more time with their loved ones,” said Parker Templeton, Chief Executive Officer for Iberia Medical Center. “That’s why we’re excited about this partnership with CCA. They’re willing to go that extra mile so our patients don’t have to.”

As strong community partners, LGH and IMC are continuing to advance their collaborative agreement. In September, IMC became part of the Ochsner Health Network (OHN) through LGH. The partnership with OHN helps IMC be a part of the highest value healthcare network in the Gulf South.
