Cancer Center of Acadiana at Iberia Medical Center welcomes new physician

Lafayette General Health, in affiliation with Iberia Medical Center, welcome Georgios Constantinou, M.D. Dr. Constantinou, an oncologist and hematologist, will see patients at Cancer Center of Acadiana’s Iberia Medical Center location.

“Our New Iberia clinic has always sent patients needing infusions to the IMC campus,” said Craig Ortego, VP of Cancer Services for Lafayette General. “We are thrilled to add Dr. Constantinou to our esteemed physicians and we know he will excel.”

Dr. Constantinou has experience in bone marrow aspiration procedures, biopsy procedures, lumbar puncture, blood disorders and intrathecal chemotherapy.

“Keeping patients close to home for care means they can spend less time traveling and more time with their loved ones,” said Parker Templeton, Chief Executive Officer for Iberia Medical Center. He added, “Dr. Constantinou brings broad expertise in oncology care to our growing regional hospital and cancer program.”

He earned his Bachelor of Science in biology at State University of New York at Stony Brook, and his Master of Science in cell and developmental biology from State University of New York at Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, New York. Dr. Constantinou completed a Doctor of Medicine at St. George’s University School of Medicine in the West Indies. He completed a fellowship in Hematology Oncology and a residency in Internal Medicine at State University of New York Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York.

Dr. Constantinou is a member of the American Medical Association, American Board of Internal Medicine, American Society of Hematology and American Society of Clinical Oncology.
