Building on Quality Health Care Close to Home -4th Annual AGH Spring Gala Raises funds for ER Project

Building on Quality Healthcare Close to Home was the general theme of the evening as more than 360 supporters joined together at the Grand Opera House of the South on Friday, March 16, for the 4th Annual Acadia General Hospital Spring Gala. The evening event grossed over $180,000 to benefit the expansion and renovation for the hospital’s new Emergency Room. Crowley residents, Donna and George Corley, served as honorary gala chairpersons, and for the 4th year in a row, Elder Outreach served as the presenting sponsor of the event.

“Tonight’s gala is a true celebration of Acadia General Hospital and all who care for the people of Acadia Parish and those who help serve our community on a daily basis in the most important caring way – healing and saving lives,” said Donna Corley. “We appreciate how important it is to have a quality community hospital here in Acadia Parish and the Emergency Room is one of the most important and critical parts of the hospital.”

The gala included a cocktail reception, a seated dinner, and the opportunity to enjoy a relaxing night out with likeminded people who make it a priority to support healthcare. A lively trio from the Skyliners Big Band played while gala attendees enjoyed socializing and dinner. During the gala, a special video message from Acadia General Hospital CEO Joe Mitchell, CNO, Caroline Marceaux, Associate Administrator, Glenn Dailey; and Chief of Staff, Dr. Max Trahan.was viewed. Local attorney, Scott Privat, served as guest auctioneer and led a spirited Fund-A-Cause auction to raise much-needed dollars for I.V. pumps for the new Acadia General Emergency Room. Additionally, members from the B. I. Moody family presented a $100,000 check toward the William C. Broadhurst Memorial Campaign that will go toward the Acadia General Emergency Room, which began construction in December 2017.

Since the inaugural gala in 2015, more than $1.3 million has been raised toward the $2 million goal of the total construction cost. “This is the largest fundraising event that we’ve had,” said Joe Mitchell, CEO for Acadia General Hospital. “The support from our working partners and the community demonstrates the commitment to meet the critical needs of our community-owned hospital. We truly are blessed to live in such a generous community.”
