British Hospital Officials Visit Lafayette General

Staff and administration from Wirral University Teaching Hospital near Liverpool, England paid a visit to Lafayette General Medical Center (LGMC) this week, interested in learning firsthand how the hospital has integrated an electronic record keeping system, from Cerner, into the workflow process of key areas.

The British group was attending the annual Cerner conference in Kansas City, MO, when they made the request to visit LGMC, after discovering that the Lafayette hospital is a Cerner reference site. With interest in acquiring a similar system from Cerner Corporation, a side trip to the Lafayette hospital was made to see the specialized record system in action.

Members of LGMC’s Information Services Department provided tours of the Intensive Care Unit, Pharmacy, Surgery Department, the new Emergency Department and 5th Floor.

This is the second international site visit made to LGMC this year, with a group from Australia having visited in October.

Cerner Corporation is a global supplier of information, technology solutions, devices and hardware that optimizes processes for health care organizations. This is LGMC’s second international visit, as a reference site for Cerner, from health care professionals interested in updating their record-keeping technology.
