Southern Eye Bank named LGMC its 2012 Hospital of the Year during National Donate Life Month.

Innov8 Lafayette named LGMC one of its 2013 Innov8 Award winners for opening the first telemedicine clinic in Acadiana. The Innov8 Awards, a project of the Greater Lafayette Chamber of Commerce, celebrate innovators in Acadiana by showcasing local technological achievement and entrepreneurship. Lafayette General won the Medical category for its Telemedicine Clinic opened at Stuller, Inc.‘s global headquarters in May 2012. The Telemedicine Clinic provides Stuller’s 1,200 associates convenient, secure access to two-way audio and HD video conferencing with primary care physicians and other medical personnel and resources. The clinic features numerous virtual tools, including a Bluetooth stethoscope and digital otoscope. At Stuller, LGMC provides a clinical staff member to facilitate exams and serve as liaison between the patient and physician.

Cancer Center of Acadiana (CCA) at Lafayette General was recognized, with commendation, as an Accredited Cancer Program by the American College of Surgeons’ Commission on Cancer (CoC). The CoC Accreditation is considered the hallmark of excellence and is awarded to comprehensive cancer care programs that provide high quality, comprehensive and multidisciplinary patient-centered care. Additionally, to earn accreditation, a cancer program must meet 34 CoC quality care standards. These standards include patient access to cancer-related information, education and support. The program must include a cancer registry that collects various data on different cancers, offers lifelong patient follow-up, and most importantly, offers patients quality care close to home.
