Acadia General Hospital holds kickoff ceremony for Expansion and Renovation Project

On Tuesday, Acadia General Hospital (AGH) started its expansion and renovation project that will feature a new ER. As part of the official ceremony held at the hospital, Joe Mitchell, CEO of AGH and David Callecod, FACHE, President of Lafayette General Health unveiled the construction sign for the project.

Keynote speakers for the event included Mitchell, Callecod and Ronnie Petree, Senior Vice-President and Western Division Leader at St. Martin Bank and Trust Company. They spoke on how this expansion will be another milestone for AGH and the importance of keeping healthcare local.

The construction will expand AGH to provide a completely new ER space. This will offer better workflow for staff, easier access for patients, and will feature a covered drop-off and pick-up for patients, along with quick registration options. The estimated completion of the project is 12-14 months.

The cost of the project is estimated to be $4 million, of which, $850,000 has been raised through public and private donations. Financing was made possible with the help of four Acadia Parish banks; St. Martin Bank & Trust Co., Bank of Commerce & Trust Co., Evangeline Bank & Trust Co. and Rayne Building & Loan.

The kickoff ceremony also started a new annual giving campaign. This fundraising campaign will be dedicated to the AGH Building Fund and used exclusively to upgrade the hospital campus, including the ER, ICU, surgery department, patient rooms and more. All donations will be handled through Lafayette General Foundation (LGF).
