Acadia General Hospital to Hold Charity Gala

By Lafayette General Health
April 8, 2016

Acadia General Hospital will hold its 2nd annual charitable Gala on Friday, April 15, 2016, at the Grand Opera House of the South. This year’s theme is “Once Upon a Time.” “The purpose of the event is to engage members of the community and to raise awareness and capital for AGH’s new emergency room,” said Cian Robinson, Executive Director of Lafayette General Foundation.

Guests will enjoy an evening of dining, dancing and music by Louisiana Red. A fabulous silent and live auction has been planned with the honorable Scott Angelle serving as guest auctioneer for the evening.

Additionally, the gala will recognize and celebrate the Acadia General medical staff, made up of a highly qualified team of physicians who are uniquely trained in their respective medical specialties. “Our physicians are the ‘Healers and the Heroes’ of AGH who help strengthen patient care for those in our community, and we want to recognize them as such,” said Don Trexler, interim CEO for AGH.

Lafayette General Foundation, the philanthropic arm of the Lafayette General Health, is assisting with AGH’s charity fund-raising efforts. At the inaugural gala, American Legion Post 15 presented a $350,000 gift to kick-off the campaign and last year’s gala generated $71,000. This year’s goal is to exceed the proceeds raised in 2015.

The Foundation is honored once again to recognize Elder Outreach as the Presenting Sponsor of the Gala, said Robinson. Other passionate and responsive sponsors $2,500 and above include; Home Bank, Coding Services Group, Bank of Commerce, Carmichael’s Pharmacy & Medical Equipment, Compass Health, First National Bank, Lamm Family Care, Schumacher Group, Cardiovascular Institute of the South, Nursing Specialties, IMAConsulting and St. Martin Bank. Ticket sales and table sponsorships have been going extremely well. “Without the community being so supportive, we wouldn’t be at this point,” Robinson noted. “The generosity of investments from so many caring people helps the Foundation fulfill Lafayette General Health’s mission, To Restore, Maintain and Improve Health, while helping to build the future of health care in the community.”

Tickets for the 2016 Gala are $150 each and dress is black-tie optional. For those who may unfortunately be out of town April 15, they can still support the campaign by simply designating an earmarked donation for the AGH capital campaign and directing it to the Foundation.
