Acadia General Hospital Becomes Smoke-Free Campus

Acadia General Hospital transitioned to a completely tobacco-free campus on Thursday, November 20. This coincided with the American Cancer Society’s “Great American Smoke Out,” which occurs the third Thursday of November each year to encourage smokers to make a plan to quit and take an important step toward a healthier lifestyle.

Acadia General Hospital advocates a healthy work environment and is committed to providing a safe, tobacco-free campus for all patients, visitors, employees and physicians. A regional representative from the American Cancer Society was available on campus Thursday to share resources on smoking cessation and the health benefits of going smoke-free to employees and guests.

By policy, all tobacco products are now prohibited on AGH campus. This policy is intended to protect the health of non-tobacco users and to provide support and encouragement to those who wish to quit by offering assistance.
